Ripple’s Xpring to Bring XRP to Internet

A Ripple-initiative, Xpring has launched a platform that offers tools, facilities and plug-ins for hands-on development of application with an option to integrate payment gateways for fiat and virtual money, mainly XRP. This platform was launched on October 2.

Vice president of Xpring, Ethan Beard reportedly said that “It’s designed to remove the pain and the messiness of integrating money into apps.” Beard added that money here is referred to as only “transfer of value”, it can be in any form either fiat money such as U.S. dollar or digital money like Bitcoin.

Ripple came to know from its investors and partners about the desire of people to be able to explore the potential of the XRP ecosystem by developing on it. They wanted to build on top of this technology to solve real-world problems.

Beard added that “More specifically, what we’re aiming to do with the platform is provide developers with various tools, services, and programs to make it easier for them to build on [the] XRP Ledger and to leverage Interledger Protocol.”

Interledger Protocol (ILP) makes the system compatible with all blockchains and devices, therefore, enhancing the ease of transferring money. According to Interledger.org, both ILP and XRP Ledger are open source and therefore, can be easily modified and developed upon by the community of developers.

XRP Ledger is a decentralized ledger that is protected by cryptography. It is driven by a grid of peer-to-peer servers. It is the home of XRP, a virtual asset that is designed to act as a link between the various currencies being used all over the world.
