On July 3, 2025, the U.S. House announced that the week of July 14th will be “Crypto Week” in Congress, as lawmakers prepare to debate three key bills that could shape America’s future in the cryptocurrency world and make “America the crypto capital of the world.”
What’s On The Agenda of Crypto Week
In an official press release, the House Financial Services and Agriculture Committees announced that they will discuss legislation to:
- CLARITY Act
- Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act
- Senate’s GENIUS Act
Majority Whip Tom Emmer (MN-06) said, “By sending these three pieces of legislation to President Trump’s desk, we will protect Americans’ right to financial privacy and deliver on our promise to make the United States the crypto capital of the world. A new day for American excellence has finally arrived, and now it’s time to get the job done.”
Republican leaders say these legislative efforts will help make the U.S. the global leader in crypto technology. The announcement comes amid significant progress in the development of regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrency under President Donald Trump’s pro-crypto administration.
“We are taking historic steps to ensure the United States remains the world’s leader in innovation and I look forward to ‘Crypto Week’ in the House. After years of dedicated work in Congress on digital assets, we are advancing landmark legislation to establish a clear regulatory framework for digital assets that safeguards consumers and investors, provides rules for the issuance and operation of dollar-backed payment stablecoins, and permanently blocks the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to safeguard Americans’ financial privacy,” said Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill.
He added further, “I thank my colleagues in Congress and the Trump Administration for their partnership and leadership and stand ready to work alongside the Senate as they work to advance standalone market structure legislation by the end of September”.
Speaker Mike Johnson (LA-04) stated in a press release, “House Republicans are taking decisive steps to deliver the full scope of President Trump’s digital assets and cryptocurrency agenda. During ‘Crypto Week,’ the House looks forward to the timely consideration of three landmark pieces of legislation: the CLARITY Act, the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, and the Senate’s GENIUS Act.”
Last week, Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott announced that lawmakers aim to finalize crucial crypto market regulations by September 30, calling this deadline “realistic” during a press conference with Senator Cynthia Lummis and Trump’s digital asset advisor Bo Hines.
On June 17, the U.S. Senate passed the GENIUS Act, which sets basic safety rules for stablecoins but avoids how they must be designed. This act will provide regulatory clarity to stablecoin issuers while protecting users. This Crypto Week will help lawmakers understand the market needs and regulatory gaps.
