Pi Network made an announcement on X earlier today, September 2, 2026, and stated that it is expanding its desktop and Node ecosystem by rolling out more self-hosted software through SoloHost. The platform offers OpenClaw and the Atlassian MCP Server, which are both designed to help pioneers use their own computers for local AI and other specialized apps.
With SoloHost, users can now browse, evaluate, install, and run self-hosted applications straight through the Pi desktop, and they do not have to handle the complex server, docker, or backend configuration. According to Pi Network, this shift keeps more data and computing power local, which reduces users’ need for third-party cloud-based resources.
With this move, Pi Network appears to be aiming for more than just blockchain infrastructure as SoloHost makes it easier to install and run self-hosted software. Moreover, these new apps came with the latest Node update, version 0.6.2.
OpenClaw Brings Local AI to SoloHost
OpenClaw’s new lineup for SoloHost is a local AI agent that runs on the user’s own computer and helps out with all types of digital tasks. It’ll use a local AI model if your hardware has the required specifications. Otherwise, it can fall back on services like ChatGPT or Claude.
This is important for users who care where their data and processing are handled. If OpenClaw uses a local model, everything stays on the users’ own machine, which gives them more control while depending less on outside servers.
Still, just running OpenClaw does not mean every bit of processing happens locally. If the user is using a cloud based model like ChatGPT or Claude, these requests still get handled offsite. But OpenClaw will always keep its own memory local, stored on the user machine.
SoloHost adds another safety layer for containment of OpenClaw. This gives OpenClaw only limited access to the users’ PC, and less exposure to their files.
Pi Network says that containment does not remove every risk. If users approve access to outside services, the agent can use those permissions. The main benefit here is that it blocks unnecessary access by default, while users choose what extra permissions to grant for certain tasks.
OpenClaw also joins Hermes, which is another AI assistant for the Pi desktop. According to Pi Network, OpenClaw is about connecting across various messaging channels and acting like a personal assistant, whereas Hermes is designed to focus on memory and learning from past experience.
Atlassian MCP Server Connects AI with Jira
The other new SoloHost application is meant for a different group of users. Atlassian MCP Server is built for developers, product teams, and anyone wanting to connect AI tools to Jira workflows.
The MCP lets compatible AI tools connect with external systems like Jira. While Atlassian hosts its own MCP, Pi Network says that teams can run into quota or reliability limits when using Atlassian’s cloud MCP for internal AI-driven Jira setups.
With the SoloHost version, users can run their own Atlassian MCP Server, locally or on any machine they choose. Then, any MCP-compatible AI tool can connect with that server and work with Jira.
This setup works with a whole range of tools like Cursor, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, etc., because MCP does not link users with just one AI provider . So, users get another way to integrate AI into their Jira workflow.
Together, OpenClaw and the Atlassian MCP Server show the range of software SoloHost now supports; one aimed at personal AI assistance, the other focused on specialized developer and business workflows.
A Broader Role for Pi Desktop and Nodes
With these new additions, Pi Network is emphasizing a broader vision for its platform. SoloHost now gives Pioneers more options to use their own computers for local AI and other self-hosted apps, which moves Pi Desktop and Nodes beyond just blockchain work.
Plus, there’s already a network of over 420,000 Pi Node runners who can use these new tools. Developers can build and publish all sorts of applications to this growing community.
For now, SoloHost is still in beta and runs on an open, permissionless publishing system. Pi Network reminds users to evaluate apps individually and install them at their own risk. As more self-hosted applications are added, SoloHost could continue expanding the practical uses of Pi Desktop while helping users make more out of the computing power they already have.
