Deutsche ErdWärme Joins Energy Web to Boost Geothermal Adoption

Deutsche ErdWärme Joins the Energy Web As A Member

Energy Web has announced its partnership with Deutsche ErdWärme, a German firm. With its revolutionary services, Deutsche ErdWärme (DEW) became the country’s most prominent brand in the development of the geothermal energy arena. The team at Energy Web took to its Twitter handle to circulate the news stating:

According to the report, DEW works in the field of geothermal energy plants, spanning heat, electricity, and unified heat-and-power solutions. A few months back, a report revealed that geothermal energy is the biggest unused renewable source of energy in Germany.

Till date, the sector has been successful in satisfying only meager percentages of heat and electricity requirements of the country. Energy Web is confident that with its collaboration with DEW, they can reap in some vast benefits from the geothermal sources. Presently, deep geothermal offers 0.1% to heating and cooling, whereas a small 1.2% is given by shallow geothermal sources. The integration will help to boost deep geothermal contribution to 100x by 2050. It will increase the rate from the present 1.2 TWh of heat generation to over 100 TWh in the coming decades. Another report from the Federal Environment Agency of Germany showed geothermal as a prominent source of a carbon-free and flexible solution that works effectively like other renewable sources such as solar energy.

The report affirmed that DEW will focus its geothermal expansion on the Upper Rhine Valley area situated in southwest Germany. The region shines as one of the best geothermal potential sources in mainland Europe. The Bavarian region authorities are resorting to geothermal solutions to achieve its climatic requirements, while Munich is planning to make it’s heating system carbon neutral and geothermal-powered by 2040 in a major development. Apart from this, DEW has three high-potential development projects in its credit. These include plants in Graben-Neudorf, Waghäusel, and Karlsruhe.

The honorable CEO of Deutsche ErdWärme stated that the plants offered by the firm are capable of producing sufficient amounts of electricity and heat. This makes them super flexible and highly usable. The firm is elated to collaborate with Energy Web as they share similar objectives and work to satisfy the country’s energy needs. Energy Web has been expanding its cluster at a fast rate in recent years. In October, the entity entered into a partnership with the German Energy Agency, DENA, to develop a blockchain-powered identity register for energy-based solutions. The entity works closely with the Austrian Power Grid and Elia Group to support their energy projects in multiple domains.
