ZachXBT Alleges Massive Insider Control in LAB Trade

What to Know:

  • ZachXBT says $LAB’s $6B FDV pump is a textbook case of retail extraction.
  • The report claims insiders likely control more than 95% of supply.
  • Large LAB deposits into Bitget addresses suggest possible market-maker coordination

The on-chain detective and blockchain “Sherlock Holmes,” ZachXBT, has released a bombshell investigation into LAB Trade ($LAB), a project that recently pumped to a staggering $6 billion Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV). The report paints a grim picture of unilateral vesting changes, opaque private loans, and extreme supply manipulation, labeling the project a textbook example of “retail extraction” on centralized exchanges.

According to ZachXBT, the $LAB token represents “everything wrong with the current meta,” where insiders hold the cards while retail traders are left holding the bag.

The Phantom Float & Insider Control

One of the most alarming revelations in the report is the total lack of transparency regarding the token’s supply. ZachXBT notes that major data aggregators like CoinGecko, RootData, and CoinMarketCap all report different circulating floats, while the project’s own documentation provides zero clarity on the distribution breakdown.

Based on an exhaustive analysis of on-chain activity, ZachXBT concludes that insiders likely control more than 95% of the total supply. This extreme concentration allows for aggressive price manipulation. The sleuth warned his followers:

”This is NOT a recommendation to short. With this much supply control, shorts potentially give insiders more fuel to manipulate the price higher.”

Predatory Loans and “Shadow” OTC Deals

The investigation highlights a “menu” of private deals offered to insiders and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) that retail investors never see. These include:

  • Private Loans: Contracts offering 7.5% per month for six months, signed by co-founder Vladimir “Vova” Sadkov.
  • Massive Discounts: OTC deals offered at 60% to 80% discounts.
  • The KOL “Shill” Requirement: Recent pitches offered an 80% discount, but required KOLs to post multiple times in support of the project before their tokens could unlock.

These hidden supply unlocks create a massive information asymmetry. While retail traders only see the climbing price on a chart, insiders are sitting on tokens acquired at an 80% discount with specific, undisclosed exit dates.

Unilateral Vesting Changes and Commingled Funds

ZachXBT also shared evidence of the LAB team unilaterally changing public sale terms. In one instance, a 3-month cliff was allegedly extended to a 9-month cliff without the consent of the buyers. Furthermore, creators who worked on marketing campaigns reported waiting months for payments with no clarification.

The report also touches on the commingling of personal and business funds. Funds directly related to LAB were traced to Sadkov’s alleged personal exchange accounts—accounts that previously received deposits linked to his prior project, Eesee ($ESE), which investors claim was abandoned shortly after its launch.

The Exchange Connection

The investigation points to a specific pattern of market maker coordination, noting that 226 million LAB (a massive percentage of the float) was deposited into Bitget addresses between March and April 2026. ZachXBT suggests that an unknown market maker is running a “playbook” similar to other manipulated tokens like RIVER, RAVE, and SIREN.

In a direct call to action, ZachXBT urged Bitget, Binance, and Gate.io to take responsibility:

  • Freeze insider profits and redistribute them to affected users.
  • Delist the token to prevent further retail extraction.
  • Act earlier on red flags rather than waiting for public pressure to build.

A Market in Crisis

The $LAB investigation serves as a stark reminder of the risks inherent in the current “low-float, high-FDV” meta. When a project’s team knows the unlocks, the market makers know the positioning, and OTC buyers know their cliffs, retail traders are the only participants playing with a blindfold.

As the industry waits for a response from the exchanges mentioned, the “ZachXBT effect” is already in full force, prompting a wider conversation on how centralized platforms vet projects before unleashing them on the public.
