Trump’s Crypto Interest Raises Questions
According to two individuals familiar with the project, the game replicates the structure of Monopoly Go! It allows users to earn in-game currency while building digital properties. It is developed by Scopely and officially licensed by Hasbro.
While official details remain undisclosed, the sources stated that it is linked to a gamified real estate simulator laced with crypto elements. The venture is being spearheaded by Bill Zanker, a long-time Trump ally and the entrepreneur behind Trump’s previous NFT and memecoin projects.
Zanker’s spokesperson confirmed a game launch is in the works for later this month but dismissed claims of similarity to Monopoly Go! as “hearsay.” Meanwhile, Hasbro, the company that owns Monopoly’s rights, clarified it has not licensed the game’s intellectual property to Trump or any affiliated entity.
From NFT trading cards to memecoins and even Bitcoin mining interest involving Trump’s sons, the former president’s family has woven a growing crypto narrative around his brand.
DTTM Operations, Trump’s trademark holding company, recently filed for crypto-related trademarks, which include virtual merchandise and NFT clothing.
However, Trump’s growing interest in the crypto space is raising concerns. His administration has suggested new crypto-friendly policies, like creating a Bitcoin reserve and setting clearer rules for digital assets.
