Lagos Blockchain Week (LBW), the flagship city-level edition of Nigeria Blockchain Week, today announced the programme for its 2026 edition, themed “The Intelligent Economy.”

Running from 7th to 12th September 2026 in Lagos, the six-day event will bring together blockchain innovators, developers, startups, investors, policymakers, creatives, educators and young talent to accelerate the adoption of blockchain and digital innovation across Lagos State and Nigeria.

The 2026 edition arrives at a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s digital asset industry, following the Presidential Executive Order on Virtual Assets Coordination signed on 17 July 2026, which established a Virtual Asset Council to coordinate oversight across the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

A Programme Built Around Policy and Practice

Each of the six days is anchored to a government-led focus area, in partnership with a lead Ministry or agency:

  • Day 1: Opening & Policy Day, with the Office of the Governor and the Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology, featuring a keynote on the Executive Order and a high-level panel on the new Virtual Asset Council.
  • Day 2: Innovation & Technology Day, with the Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology, including a technical walkthrough of the CBN’s Regulatory Sandbox Cohort 2 and sessions on blockchain infrastructure.
  • Day 3: Wealth Creation, SMEs & Employment Day, with the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, featuring startup pitches, a compliance clinic and a job fair.
  • Day 4: Education & Talent Development Day, with the Ministry of Education, including a hackathon and skills workshops aligned with NITDA’s National Digital Economy Policy & Strategy.
  • Day 5: Creative Economy, AI & Agentic Economy Day, with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, exploring the agentic and predictive economy alongside blockchain applications in entertainment and media.
  • Day 6: Community, Demo Day & Closing, featuring final pitches, awards and the closing ceremony.

The event’s programming also engages the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Accelerated Regulatory Incubation Programme (ARIP), the NFIU’s Suspicious Transaction Report framework, NOTAP’s technology transfer registration process for foreign blockchain and AI partnerships, and the Nigeria Revenue Service’s guidelines on virtual asset taxation giving founders, investors and compliance teams direct, practical engagement with the agencies shaping the industry’s regulatory future.

Comments

“Lagos Blockchain Week 2026 is designed to be more than a conference, it is a working session between government, regulators and industry. With the Executive Order, the CBN Sandbox and SEC’s ARIP all active at once, this is the moment for Lagos to lead Africa’s intelligent economy,” said Enoch Mbaebie, Lead, Lagos Blockchain Week / Nigeria Blockchain Week.

Partnership and Media Opportunities

Lagos Blockchain Week welcomes collaboration with government agencies, corporate sponsors, media houses and development partners. Opportunities include lead ministry days, venue and track sponsorship, speaking slots, youth and student mobilisation, and joint branding.

About Lagos Blockchain Week

Lagos Blockchain Week is the flagship city-level edition of Nigeria Blockchain Week, a multi-day platform accelerating blockchain and digital innovation adoption in Lagos State and across Nigeria.

The event is organised in alignment with the Lagos State Government’s priorities in technology and innovation, wealth creation and employment, education and talent development, and tourism, arts and culture.
