Elon Musk has once again stirred crypto drama, this time by renaming his X profile name to “Gorklon Rust,” a playful reference to $GORK, a memecoin based on Grok, the AI chatbot created by his artificial intelligence venture, xAI.

Almost immediately after the update, $GORK, built on the Solana blockchain, experienced a meteoric rise. The crypto surged nearly 100% in value within 24 hours, briefly reaching an all-time high of $0.083 on May 4. It has since corrected slightly to $0.067, with its market capitalization dropping from a peak of $100 million to approx $67.41 million.

The origin of the $GORK remains unclear, but it seems to be a parody project linked (either directly or indirectly) to Musk’s xAI initiative. The speculation has driven massive highs in search volume and trading activity.
Despite the recent price retracement, analysts remain bullish. Technical indicators such as the Relative Strength Index (RSI), currently fluctuating between 34 and 37 point to ongoing bullish momentum, but, with some bearish pressure. Market watchers like the popular pseudonymous analyst Haze predict a potential return to the $100 million market cap mark if current trends hold, especially as investor interest in GORK continues to climb.
This isn’t Elon Musk’s first playful identity switch on X. Back in February, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO briefly rebranded himself as “Harry Bolz,” raising eyebrows across the platform. A few months earlier, in December, Musk adopted the name “Kekius Maximus,” a name that quickly caught the attention of meme enthusiasts. Apparently the name was a fusion of Pepe the Frog, a widely recognized internet meme, and Maximus Decimus Meridius, the gladiatorial hero portrayed by Russell Crowe in the film Gladiator.
At the time, Musk’s profile image made the reference: it showed Pepe the Frog clad in golden Roman armor, holding a video game controller. Prior to that, Musk had also changed his profile picture to feature Dogecoin, the iconic Shiba Inu meme that inspired the popular cryptocurrency. The move coincided with the introduction of the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.), an initiative aimed at slashing government spending, which was yet again an indirect reference to the memecoin.
Meanwhile, on the AI front, xAI has officially launched the first version of Grok Studio, its new platform for interactive content creation. Users can now collaborate with the AI assistant in real time across various formats including code, documents, and games. The studio also supports several programming languages such as Python, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, Bash, and HTML, with users able to view live previews of their code output.
