At their strategic meeting, PM Anwar and CZ discussed Malaysia’s objective to position itself as a regional leader in blockchain. As reported by local media, the conversation focused on how the country can adopt decentralized technologies in line with the rapid evolution of the global digital economy.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Anwar shared his thoughts on X, noting, “Today I had a productive meeting with CZ, founder of Binance, to discuss the potential for Malaysia to become a major hub in the growing digital assets and blockchain industry,” he stated. He also highlighted the significance of collaborating closely with government agencies including the Securities Commission, Bank Negara Malaysia, and the Ministry of Digital for strategic development.
Anwar added that with the right steps, Malaysia could position itself as a frontrunner in the current global digital transformation.
This move follows CZ’s growing engagement with government-level crypto strategies worldwide. He was recently appointed as a crypto adviser to Pakistan and has played a role in helping Kyrgyzstan with blockchain integration and regulatory strategies.
On his part, CZ has reiterated his willingness to support governments pursuing genuine blockchain adoption. Posting on X, he said, “I am happy to assist and advise any government on crypto adoption and regulatory policies if they are genuinely embracing crypto. I offer my advice free of charge, with the only constraint being the time I have available.”
Binance, under CZ’s leadership and now with CEO Richard Teng, has built a strong global presence. Teng also disclosed that Binance has helped some nations develop strategic reserves and provided guidance on crypto regulation, demonstrating the platform’s ongoing commitment to fostering responsible growth in the crypto sector worldwide.
