BetOnline Secures Bored Ape NFT for $375K

BetOnline is a sports betting business running since 2001. Aside from the secure online betting experience, the platform hopes to establish a good relationship with clients to understand their needs and preferences. This could be why the company has so far been excited about adapting to the new arrivals in the industry. This enthusiastic business is also one of the few early adopters of Bitcoin on its platform. It is probably one of the reasons why BetOnline has remained one of the popular Bitcoin sportsbooks for a long time.

BetOnline has signed a deal with Bored Ape for a membership. For those who do not know about Bored Ape, it is a collection of 10,000 Ape-themed NFTs minted and currently available on Ethereum. These non-fungible tokens are created by a group known as the Bored Ape Yacht Club, launched on the 30th of April in 2021. It soon took Twitter by storm, with many buying the NFTs for an average of $200. The price, however, took off soon, and the tokens are now worth thousands of dollars. Among others, celebrities like Eminem, Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Mark Cuban, Shaquille O’Neal, and Paris Hilton also hold Bored Ape NFTs.

Now, after less than a year, BetOnline purchased the Bored Ape Membership #320 for a whopping 120 Ethers or roughly $375,000. The company dipped its toes in NFT as early as last December with the purchase of “Knights of Degen.” BetOnline views the new purchase as a signifier of its optimism regarding NFTs. Reportedly, CEO Eddie Robbins has bigger plans for Bitcoin betting with NFTs in the future.

Companies like BetOnline, are rapidly moving towards the virtual space, with some of them even establishing their headquarters in the metaverse. Non-fungible tokens are the quickest way to grow a business in the metaverse. Recently, an announcement by Solana Pay stated about a business system that gives the NFT version of the product bought in the stores to be used in the metaverse.

In the same way, NFTs could be integral for the growth of cryptocurrency betting in the future. The integration of NFTs would provide a much more innovative environment for sports betting compared to the traditional model. Themed NFTs could easily be the perfect way to bring both innovation and value to the betting table and open up Bitcoin sports betting to the metaverse. Bitcoin betting is already a thriving segment, and NFTs as gifts would be a positive force for BetOnline moving forward.
